Capabilities

Predicts all-atom structures of biomolecular complexes. Input: a JSON/YAML of protein, nucleic-acid and ligand entities (optionally MSAs); output: ranked all-atom complexes with confidence scores. Also ships lightweight 'Mini' variants that cut inference cost.

When to use it

A third commercially usable AlphaFold3 substitute alongside Boltz-2 and Chai-1, with a stated antibody-antigen focus in later versions. Use the openly licensed checkpoints; do not assume v2 weights come with the same rights.

Commercial Licensing

Commercial rights — may a company use it?

Commercial use OK

Licence as writtenApache License 2.0 (code and released model parameters)

The README's License section states the project, code and model parameters, is released under Apache 2.0 and is 'free for both academic research and commercial use'. Important exception read in the same README: the newer Protenix-v2 weights are described as proprietary and confidential, not released under any open-source licence - so the free commercial grant covers the openly released checkpoints, not v2.

The licence read at the source allows use by a company. Attribution or copyleft conditions may still apply — read the note.

Commercial cost — is commercial use free of charge?

Free for commercial use

No fee for the open checkpoints - the README states Apache 2.0 for code and parameters and explicitly says commercial use is free. Protenix-v2 is not available at any published price.

Price and rights are separate: this panel is about money, the panel above is about permission.

  • Commercial OK ≠ Free of charge. A tool can be licensed for company use and still need a paid licence for a dependency (BindCraft → PyRosetta).
  • Free download ≠ Commercially licensed. Weights you can download at no cost may still forbid commercial use (AlphaFold 3).
  • Unverified ≠ Commercially permitted. If no published statement settles it, treat it as unknown — not as a yes.
  • Every component counts. Each status considers the code licence, the model-weights terms, required dependencies and any terms of use.

Model Weights

Open weights. A separate weights licence is Not documented as its own field; where weights carry different terms from the code, that is stated in the licence explanation above.

Dependencies

Not documented as a separate field. Any dependency that affects commercial use (for example a paid PyRosetta licence) is named in the licence and cost explanations above.
